What is MATRON?

MATRON is a zine, set up in 2026 for, by and about women who are curious, who are angry, who’ve got a lot of other stuff going on.

The editor is Katie Allen, who once a long time ago ran a feminist magazine called Fat Quarter, which was inspired by the riot grrl zines of the 90s and groundbreaking mags like Bust and Sassy and Spare Rib. The world has changed a lot in the last decade or so since FQ, but also a lot of things have stayed the same…

MATRON is here first and foremost as a celebration of the cool stuff women do and the stories we have to tell. It is designed to be a paper zine, made by humans, for your hands, and shared with your friends.
